I Didn't Start in Boardrooms or Tech Incubators
I started in Queens, navigating poverty and the kind of pressure that forces you to think systematically about survival. Those early years taught me something fundamental: every signal matters, every function must serve a purpose, and systems either work or they don't.
My entry into the fitness industry wasn't glamorous. I was a teenager working a summer job at Pro Gym Supply, specializing in the full restoration and servicing of commercial-grade gym equipment — particularly indoor cycling bikes. Working from a small garage operation, I learned the mechanics of fitness equipment hands-on, developing a keen eye for quality and proper functioning.
While others in college were partying, I was putting in 60-hour weeks perfecting inventory and production systems, studying Toyota Production methods, and creating comprehensive work order systems that tracked each piece of equipment from acquisition through refurbishment to sale.
I didn't just learn the fitness equipment business — I learned every single layer of it. From lifting treadmills onto dollies and climbing through equipment-packed shipping containers to developing high-level SEO strategies and managing product listings across eBay, Sears, and Alibaba. Not many people in this industry can say they've done both.
